Victoria Labalme Keynote – How Naropa Influenced Her Upcoming Book Risk Forward
March 3, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm MST
Naropa University is happy to announce Victoria Labalme, as a distinguished keynote speaker on Wednesday, March 3, at 12:00 noon (MST). Labalme is a presentation strategist, performing artist and author of the new book, “Risk Forward: Embrace the Unknown and Unlock your Hidden Genius.”
Victoria is a donor to and long-time friend of Naropa. In the early 1990s, Labalme attended a workshop at Naropa University. In her presentation, she will share the story of how that experience had a profound effect on her thinking, her career, and even her new book, Risk Forward. Labalme’s keynote will take us beyond the conventional and reductive myth that in order to achieve success, you have to have a fixed plan or goal. Her presentation will address how we can approach our work and our lives as an art, navigate uncertainty and achieve remarkable results.
Labalme explains, “In each of our lives at various points along the way, we find ourselves in the Fog of Not Knowing—a period of transition, when the path, the plan, or the project is not yet clear. This period in between—whether for minutes or for months—is to be respected and honored; it is fertile and full of promise. If you can meet this void without grasping for the most convenient way out, what you discover will be beyond your expectations and imagination.”
Labalme spent over twenty years in the performing arts before moving into her work as a consultant and strategic performance coach, where she uses her background to create a surprising blend of art and business. As a member of the Speaker Hall of Fame, Labalme is known for her keynote performances and workshops around the world. Her proprietary systems and strategies have been embraced by entrepreneurs, artists, consultants, healers, professors, scientists, authors, researchers, executives and more than 700 organizations, universities, cultural institutions, and not-for-profits. As a creative artist, her films, performances and theater projects have received critical acclaim from The Hollywood Reporter, The New York Times, Variety, BBC, CBS, Los Angeles Times, and Good Morning America.
Naropa is excited to partner with the Boulder Book Store in welcoming Victoria to campus (virtually). Please visit the Boulder Book Store’s website to pre-order Victoria’s book, https://www.boulderbookstore.net/book/9781401961800.
